196th Signal Photo Company - Still Photo Gallery

Jerome (Jerry) Kosseff

"Hi, I am Leslie Kosseff, Jerome (Jerry) Kosseff's son.  I have been telling my Dad about your book "The Last Farewell"
and the other photographers you included in the memoir of Edmund Burke O'Connell.

He says  he remembers some of the names. He is 90. I asked him if he wants to speak to some of the men in his old outfit,
but as of now he says no, I am hopeful that will change.  He would appreciated a signed copy of the book.

My Dad often speaks of his time in the service as a photographer.  I have a photo of his jeep with my name painted on
the front.  I was born when he was in Italy.  He was the photographer assigned to General Mark Clark.  He also talks about an
Army Lieutenant named Edward J. Montagne

Lt. Montagne produced the Sgt. Bilko television show starring actor Phil Silvers."

Regards, Les

Julie and I were delighted to send a signed copy of The Last Farewell to Leslie Kosseff to share with his Dad. According to materials provided by Don Wiedenmayer who kept a unit summary of still photography taken during from September-December 1944 by the 196th, Sgt. Kosseff produced 168 still photos of exceptional quality for publication We hope that Les will share some of father's memories of his wartime service in the 196th Signal Photo Company sometime in the near future.
